Enhanced Community Quarantine and Banking

While a lot of businesses, even at the Bonifacio Global City, are temporarily closed and staying at home is our best defense against COVID-19, it is worthwhile to note that some of the banking institutions continue to be operational.

BPI through their Facebook page @BPI posted their list of 198 branches in Luzon that will remain open. Shortened banking hours for BDO Unibank branches in Metro Manila and Luzon while their branches in Visayas and Mindanao are on regular hours.
China Bank, PNB, RCBC, Security Bank, UCPB have posted similar advisories.

Some of the banks have waived over-the-counter banking fees as well as online transfers fees via pesonet and instapay.

The banks mentioned above have their branches at BGC open at shortened schedules.

Be aware of social distancing, wash your hands and/or sanitize. Stay safe everyone.

BGC In time of COVID19

Much have been said and spread about COVID19 in Bonifacio Global City.  As the #BGCExpert I will not add to that.  Instead, I will adopt the concept of “Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands.”

Part of being safe is knowledge.  Arm ourselves with much information about the virus and act accordingly.

What I appreciate about living in Bonifacio Global City is the awareness and preparedness.  I can say that all the office and residential buildings provide disinfecting alcohol and hand sanitizers in the lobby areas, common areas and by the elevators.  Kudos to BGC for professionally managing the situation by their responsible actions and sensitivity to health concerns.

Given this COVID19 situation, I believe that when you invest in a condominium for yourself, your business and more importantly for your family, look at the community as a whole and not just at the structure.

We often take it for granted but the simple but proper handwashing is the key to our safety.

Let’s all keep calm, stay safe, stay healthy.

Koi Pond at BGC

A local cable TV offers a channel called “Water Channel.” It shows an aquarium with all the colorful fishes. It is very calming and relaxing to watch.  In Bonifacio Global City, visit the East Tower at One Serendra to relax by the koi pond.  I give this the hash tag: #uniquethingstoseeatBGC

The Koi fish is an ornamental variety of the carp. In the 16th century, carp farming in rice paddies was started in China.  The practice found its way to Japan where the breeding of the unique colored varieties started. There was even a time that the koi was almost exclusive in Japan.  It was only in the 1900s when koi breeding started outside of Japan.

The elegant and regal koi fish symbolize good fortune, success and prosperity.  The color pairings also have different meanings. For example: White with red spots symbolize career success; and if white with lipstick (red color around the mouth of the koi) it means love.

Watch my koi pond video here.

Bonsai at BGC

Buddhist monks as early as 1,000 BC in China “propagated” the bonsai which grew from their wish to bring nature inside the temples. And for the record, although bonsai is greatly associated to Japan, the art really originated in China.

In Bonifacio Global City, take a walk around the greenery and open spaces at One Serendra to discover a bonsai garden nook. The landscaping is well-appropriated making the nature walk a holistic experience.

Words to live by at BGC

Perhaps the most famous motto in the world is the United States of America’s “In God We Trust.”  The bill declaring “In God We Trust” was signed into law in 1956 President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Around this time motto in public places became commonplace.

In Bonifacio High Street I found these two uplifting motto: Wander Often, Wonder Always (photo by @cynchyap) and May You Find Comfort Here by mural artist K.F.K. (photo by Kevin Roma on flickr). These are just some of the nice things you can find at Bonifacio Global City.

A Museum for the Mind

Anytime is a good time to get into a little bit of science.  The Mind Museum is where science comes alive.  It is one of the main features of the 1.2 hectare J.Y. Campos Park at the #BonifacioGlobalCity.

The #MindMuseum is another world-class establishment in the premier city #BGC.

Terra 28

Terra Park or Terra 28 is a park in front of the Verve Residences Tower 2 and One Maridien in Bonifacio Global City.  This is part of the High Street South block in BGC.

Urban planning in BGC includes pocket parks with lush greeneries of trees and plants. The idiomatic expression “get some air” fully applies not just in Terra 28 but all over BGC.  For those counting steps, include a walk around Terra 28 for a good 10-minutes workout.

For a quick picker-upper, take a walk in one of the pocket parks at BGC.

BGC's Urban Open Space

Parks, Gardens, Playing Fields, Playing Courts abound in Bonifacio Global City and these areas comprise the concept of Urban Open Space. These spaces are categorized as either public or privately owned such as campuses and corporate areas. Urban Open Spaces are counterparts of major housing or commercial development.

For me, these urban open space is what makes BGC a walkable city, breathable, relaxing and rejuvenating even.

According to Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Urban_open_space)  The World Health Organization consider urban green spaces as very important to human health. These areas have a positive impact on mental and physical health. Urban open spaces often include trees or other shrubbery that contribute to moderating temperatures and decreasing air pollution.

BGC's Greenery and Open Spaces

The “twin city of Makati” is how The Ayala Group regarded Bonifacio Global City. The group has been very instrumental in helping convert BGC into the premier financial district in the country. The Serendra block is one of their luxury developments.
At Two Serendra, greenery and open spaces abound. And for the holidays they have dressed up the garden and the lobby with all things sparkly and joyful.
